Jack Coutu was influenced by Oriental art and inspired by English stories and legends, and by the observation of the flora and fauna in his garden, in fields, hedgerows and ponds.
A trained sculptor and engraver, he often includes small gears and mechanalia in his intricate prints. His technical skill is not limited to etching, he created a large collection of hand carved Japanese Netsuke, he also taught engraving and print-making at the Central School of Art, London.

Exhibitions: Continual group and one person exhibitions throughout UK and Europe since 1965.
Collections: including, but not limited to: King Gustave (Sweden); Museum of Fine Arts (Boston); Bradford City Art Gallery (UK); Victoria and Albert Museum (London, UK); many provincial galleries in United Kingdom.
Jack passed away in 2017 at the age of 93.
